MTIT Lanao Sur forms prov'l Bagwis committee

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur-- The Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT) Provincial Office organized recently the Bagwis Provincial Committee to intensify the BAGWIS program here in the province.

The committee is chaired by MTIT provincial director Mohammad Aquil A. Mamainte and co-chaired by MTIT-TIDS chief Mautante D. Marohombsar. The members are Lanao del Sur-Marawi City Consumer Group President Baealabi Shora M. Sabdullah as the consumer representative,  Provincial Technology and Livelihood Development Center Manager Jasnia Alonto Adiong - ShiekRashid as the government representative, Bangon Marawi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Saga B. Pagariongan as the business sector representative, and Cairon N. Macasimbar of MTIT.

The provincial Bagwis committee is primarily tasked to promote and implement the Bagwis Program in the province through the conduct of initial assessment and/or on-site validation of individual nominee business establishments as well as the review and approve/disapprove nominations.

Formerly known as the Certified Business Establishment Program, the Bagwis Program gives due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers while practicing responsible business where consumers get the best value for money.

Under this, a business establishment can be assessed as a Bronze, Silver, and Gold Bagwis Awardee in different store categories such as Supermarket/Grocery Store, Department Store, Specialty Store, Appliance Center, Hardware Store, Convenience Store, and DTI – Accredited Service and Repair Shop.

The program also encourages the setting up of Consumer Welfare Desks or an equivalent customer relations office that will provide information to consumers and serve as a mechanism for the speedy resolution of consumer complaints. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
