Ditsa-an Ramain town execs: IRW a big help in current crises

DITSA-AN RAMAIN, Lanao del Sur--As the town here keeps receiving aid from the Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) - Philippines, municipal and school officials firmly stated that such an international non-government organization is a significant help especially now that they face a lot of crises.

Municipal administrator Mohammad Ali Adiong thanked the organization for their effort which is beneficial in easing the challenges encountered by their constituents.

“Ngayon, hirap ang mga tao. Maraming problema so itong Islamic Relief ay napakalaking tulong. Sana tuloy-tuloy ang pagtulong nila sa mga tao dahil kailangan namin dito. Ang bukid namin ay kaunti lang ang nasasaka doon dahil sa flood. [Nariyan pa ang] Marawi siege at pandemic,” he said.

[Now, people are struggling. There are many problems so this Islamic Relief is really a big help. I hope their help to the people here will continue because we need it here. We only reaped less from our farms because of the flood. [There were also these] Marawi siege and pandemic.]

Adiong shared that the IRW-Philippines has already delivered various aid in his area which included livelihood assistance and food packs, among others.

Meanwhile, Sultan Alauya Alonto Central Elementary School principal Sarah Saruang stressed that as her school is one of the beneficiaries of the organization’s initiative, this has contributed much to the parents’ end considering that not all of them have a regular source of income.

“Napakalaki ang naitulong nito sa mga bata kasi dito, walang stable na trabaho ang mga parent. At least, nakatulong ito sa kanila sa pagkain nila, sa pag-aaral ng mga bata. Marami na silang naibigay dito. A million thanks. It is a big help,” she said.

[It has helped the children a lot because here, parents do not have stable jobs. At least, this helped in terms of their food, in the studies of the children. They have already given a lot here. A million thanks. It is a big help.]

Currently, the IRW-Philippines continues to implement its program called Sustaining Transformative and Resilient Initiatives in Vulnerable Communities (STRIVEC) in Ranao Philippines which has three components including education. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
