DITSA-AN RAMAIN, Lanao del Sur--Learner recipients from here alongside their parents conveyed their utmost gratitude to the Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) - Philippines for the assistance they received, specifically for their education.
This, following the implementation of the IRW's Sustaining Transformative and Resilient Initiatives in Vulnerable Communities (STRIVEC) in Ranao Philippines program that runs for three years wherein a monthly stipend amounting to P250 is released every three to four months.
The IRW-Philippines spearheaded a payout on March 28-29 to at least 600 students from seven schools in the town of which four were identified as madrasah schools and the other three were of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education.
Student Hammad Batara from one of the benefiting schools, Sultan Alauya Alonto Central Elementary School, thanked the sponsor, saying this would help them in terms of school finances.
“Maraming salamat sa Islamic Relief kasi marami silang natulungan. Malaking tulong ito katulad sa aming mga estudyante kasi nakakabili kami ng [school] materials. Nakakabigay rin kami sa aming mga magulang bilang tulong na rin. Sana marami pa silang matulungan na katulad namin,” he said.
[Thank you to Islamic Relief because they helped a lot already. This is a big help to us, students, because we are able to buy [school] materials. We can also give to our parents as our help to them. I hope they can still help more [students] like us.]
Another student Abdul Wajid Bongcarawan from the same school likewise cited the same reason which is why he was grateful to the organization.
As for student Abdul Rashid Elias, he shared that he planned of dividing his stipend for school materials while the remaining will be for his family’s additional preparations for this year’s Ramadhan.
Meanwhile, parent Nihaya Mamosaca whose enrolled children in the recipient school were beneficiaries of the program, expressed her gratefulness for the money that can at least ease her budgeting for school matters and the Ramadhan.
“Maraming salamat sa Islamic Relief dahil wala silang sawang nagsuporta. Sana ipagpatuloy pa rin sa mga kagaya naming mga mahihirap. Kahit papaano, may pandagdag sa panggastos. Nakakabili kami ng mga kailangan ng anak namin, lalo na ngayong Ramadhan. May pambili na kami ng Iftar. Lubos akong nagpapasalamat dahil kahit papaano ay may ganitong programang nabuo,” she said.
[Thank you so much to the Islamic Relief because they support tirelessly. I hope they continue for those like us who are poor. Somehow, we have something to add to our expenses. We can already buy the necessities for our children, especially now that is Ramadhan. We can buy something for Iftar. Thank you so much because this program was formed.] (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
