MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Philippines acclaimed all the efforts of their partners as the Marawi Response Project (MRP) has successfully concluded this year.
USAID Philippines Deputy Mission Director Rebekah Eubanks stressed that as her organization has been the funder of the project, they were delighted to magnify the unified perseverance behind the undertaking as this has notably contributed to achieving their goal, especially of restoring robust economic activities in the Islamic city that was destroyed during the siege in 2017.
“Our collective efforts to improve economic conditions after the violent conflict helped raise the income and savings of partner communities,” she said.
Eubanks conveyed her gratitude to the Task Force Bangon Marawi which provided them with a strategic framework and action plan that guided them in delivering their interventions to Lanao communities.
She further extended her thanks to the involved local government units for their steadfast dedication to continue the extended initiatives, while committing to keep allowing the displaced communities to also have meaningful participation in the local governance.
Eubanks also mentioned the important share of the private sector, including the civil society organizations, that worked with them in improving the economic condition in Lanao, sustaining their started endeavors, and giving voice to the marginalized sector.
She likewise highlighted the hard work and sacrifices of their major implementing organization which was the Plan International Philippines in ensuring that their target communities set the priorities of the project to have a long-lasting positive impact on the lives of Lanao citizens.
Emphasizing the toils and struggles endured to attain triumph, Eubanks positively looked forward that the efforts would be maintained and their legacy would live on.
“We hope that the progress you achieved will motivate you more to keep moving forward. Your stories serve as inspiration to us all,” she said. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
