CSOs say Del Rosario’s service still needed in Marawi

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Some civil society organizations (CSOs) here conveyed their stand that the service of the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairperson Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario is still essential in the ongoing rehabilitation of the city.

This, as the country transitions from one administration to another.

In a tribute to Del Rosario Thursday, June 23, Marawi Civil Society Organizations Convergence Group (MCSOCG) Lead Convenor Padoman Paporo emphasized in her video message that the TFBM has strictly and religiously delivered its mandate of ensuring that the Bangon Marawi Comprehensive Recovery Profile is holistically implemented.

She stated that this has been evident with dozens of major infrastructures already turned over and now being used by the people while few others are in the final stage of completion.

Paporo added that under Del Rosario who also heads the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD), the city has been driven positively to rise better.

“It is for this reason that we still need the services of Secretary Del Rosario of the Chairman of the Task Force Bangon Marawi and Secretary of the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development. We can see a glimpse of a beautiful Marawi that is full of hope and opportunities for our people,” she said.

Meanwhile, Siyap ko Pagtaw, Inc. Chairman Asani Montila recalled how their co-CSOs took a stand in the approval of the appointment of Del Rosario as the DHSUD chairman.

As such, he firmly conveyed to his fellow civil society members that he does not blame them for standing against the official but he also asked not to be blamed for standing and defending the latter because like anyone else, he hoped as well for the accomplishment of the city’s rehabilitation, return of the IDPs and the passage of the Marawi Compensation Bill.

Montila said to Del Rosario that if only he held the decision, he would opt to make Del Rosario stay as the task force chief.

“Magkakaiba lang tayo ng daan na tinatahak pero iisa ang ating direksyon [We may have been taking different roads but our direction is the same]. [To Secretary], if we only have the power to make you stay as the Chairman of the Task Force Bangon Marawi, we will do it as a sign of our satisfaction,” he said. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
