MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) -- The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) here underscored the urgent need to vaccinate teachers as the province prepares for the resumption of face-to-face classes.

"The prerequisite for keeping our schools open is to vaccinate as many teachers and students as possible. Vaccination remains the solution for keeping our schools open," IPHO chief Dr. Alinader Minalang said during the coordination meeting for the Covid-19 vaccination in schools.

He emphasized that inoculating teachers and other members of the academic community will ensure not just their safety but also the protection of school children when schools finally reopen.

"Vaccinating teachers and other essential staff of schools is a crucial component of this campaign. It is not only a matter of having ourselves protected but it is also a matter of protecting the lives and health of our children who are entrusted to our care," he further said.

In the City Schools Division of Marawi, 94% of its 1,207 teaching and non-teaching personnel have been vaccinated against Covid-19. (APB/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
