MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--To promote active civil society participation in the implementation of its programs, the provincial government of Lanao del Sur in partnership with the Lanao del Sur People's Council convened representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the province Thursday, June 9.
The CSO Conference aims to cascade the policy covering the accreditation of CSOs with the local government units. It also seeks to map CSO initiatives in the province.
Lawyer Faisal Cali of the Provincial Legal Office underscored during the conference the need to identify the CSOs operating in the province and align their priorities and programs with the provincial government to avoid duplication of efforts.
The Ministry of Interior and Local Government Provincial Office also explained the process, timeline, and requirements for CSO accreditation.
Accreditation with the local government means becoming a member of the Local Development Council. Accredited CSOs are also qualified to be members of the Local Health Board, Local School Board, and Local Peace and Order Council, among others.
As such, the provincial government encouraged all CSOs including people’s organizations and non-government organizations in the province to apply for accreditation with the local government. (APB/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
