IPHO calls for cooperation to lower alert level status

Adela Saidar, the national immunization provincial coordinator of Lanao del Sur, underscores the need to vaccinate more school-age children saying many are yet to take their jabs.

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) has called for cooperation among stakeholders to ramp up the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive.

Accordingly, increasing the vaccination coverage in Lanao del Sur can also lower the Alert 2 level status of the province.

"Kami ay nananawagan na please help the IPHO na tumaas po ang accomplishment natin para masurpass natin yung Level 1 na status [we are asking you to please help the IPHO to increase our accomplishment so that we can surpass the Level 1 status]," appealed Adela Saidar, national immunization program provincial coordinator, during the coordination meeting for the Covid-19 vaccination in schools.

So far, only 267,553 individuals have been fully immunized in the province equivalent to 40% of the eligible population. Saidar said 202,738 persons remain unvaccinated.

Meanwhile, 25,182 individuals were already inoculated with their first booster dose and 228 with the second booster dose.

Saidar said there is also a need to intensify the vaccination drive for children aged 5-14 years, saying many kids in this group are yet to take their jabs.

"Yung school age 5-11 years old, the eligible population is 220,096 and we fully immunized 3,488 which is only 2%," she said.

Moreover, only 30,194 or 19% of the 157,043 young population aged 12 to 17 years old have already been fully vaccinated. (APB/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
