The commanding officer of the 55th Engineer "Mobilizer" Brigade reminded his troops of their essential role in the pursuit of genuine peace and development in their areas of operation
"We, as members of the Team Mobilizer, all of us, have an important role to play and primarily we must focus on supporting our operating troops in the general area of the Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao)," said BGen. Irineo Sebastian during the 24th founding anniversary celebration of the Brigade, Thursday, Oct. 13
The support, he said, could either be combat support operations or support to non-traditional military operations like disaster response, election duty, support to law enforcement operations, and humanitarian assistance.
Sebastian said that while the celebration is a tribute to the men and women of the Brigade who painstakingly dedicated their services and contributed much to the unit's accomplishments throughout the year, it is also a reminder for them to do better and remain committed to their respective undertakings and responsibilities so that they can achieve a secure environment conducive to regional and national development in this part of Mindanao.
"We must continuously deliver our best in serving our countrymen in this part of Mindanao," he further said.
Exemplary personnel and units of the Brigade were awarded during the anniversary celebration. Awards included Gawad sa Kaunlaran, Military Merit Medal, Military Civic Action Medal, Military Commendation Medal, Best Battalion, Best Company, Best Enlisted Personnel, and Best Civil Human Resouce, among others.
The awarding was led by LtGen Romeo Brawner Jr, the commanding general of the Philippine Army, who also conferred CGPA Kalasag Streamers to the Brigade and some of its operating units.
Civilian stakeholders and partners were also recognized during the ceremony to thank them for their support in the achievement of the Brigade's mission. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
