MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Some 41 former members of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group here in the province will undergo skills development training as part of the efforts to combat and end violent extremism in the Bangsamoro region.
The trainees are beneficiaries of the ‘Tulong ng Gobyernong Nagmamalasakit (TuGoN) Project’ of the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG). The project aims to provide humanitarian interventions to former combatants to help them transition to civilian life.
The training on agricultural crop production which will run for 56 days will be conducted by the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education- Technical Education and Skills Development (MBHTE-TESD).
Aside from the actual training, the enrollees will also join a three-day Islamic seminar in line with the region's moral governance principle.
The enrollees can also avail of free assessment for national certification after training and receive an allowance from the training support fund in addition to the PPE and internet allowance.
The provision of skills training is another benefit package of Project TuGoN to support former combatants in improving their quality of life and transforming them into productive citizens in the Bangsamoro region. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
