Islamic City of Marawi (08 August) – Elements of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LSPPO) is conducting a massive manhunt operations against groups of armed men who razed thirteen (13) houses in Lumbayanague town, this province.
Last August 4, group of armed men led by Camad Panambolan assaulted the group of Calil Abubacar at Barangay Dalaon of Lumbayanague that resulted into 24-hour firefights wounding Abubacar on his left leg and burning 13 residential houses , Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan said.
The motive, he said, is believed to be retaliation to the shooting of Mangacop Ditanungun, Mangopia Cayongcat and Bashit Hadji Unos last July 28 at Barangay Nanagun of the same town.
Earlier, the elements of the Lumbayanague and Butig Municipal Police Stations together with Butig town mayor Ibrahim Macadato and the Council of Elders pacified the two (2) warring families.
A municipal crisis management committee (CMC) was formed composed of the mayor as chairman, chief of police as vice-chairman, relatives of both parties, Imam, and other prominent leaders in the area to resolve the situation.
Furthermore, augmentation in the area was provided by the LSPPO and the military to assist the CMC in pacifying the warring families.
According to Derogongan, the situation was resolved without reported human casualty except for the razing of four (4) houses with an estimated damaged of approximately P250,000.
However, after a week, Ditanungun and two (2) others were shot at Barangay Nanagun of Lumbayanague., he added.
The police is currently conducting further investigation for filing of appropriate charges in court, he said.
