Lasureco management clarifies alleged explosion of transformer

Islamic City of Marawi (19 August) -- The management of the Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative Inc. (LASURECO) denied allegations that the Maliwanag substation exploded because its capacity is only 7.5 MVA and not 10 MVA.
"Based on our initial investigation, we found out something that may be linked to sabotage of our distribution lines causing blackout in some parts of the city and the whole Basak area of the province," said Sultan Ashary P. Maongco, General Manager of LASURECO.
"But we have not yet concluded that it was sabotage so we created a task force to further investigate the problem," he added.
Maongco appealed to its customers to be patient assuring them that Team Lasureco will not prolong the replacement.
"We are doing our best that within two (2) weeks from now we can replace the 10 MVA substation with 40 MVA," he said.
"Rest assured that with the replacement, we will not need an additional system for a period of five (5) years because the 40 MVA substation will carry the load requirements here in the city and the Basak area," Maongco further said.
The general manager likewise said they will implement the strategy of maximizing the Saduc substation wherein residential customers affected by the blackout will be energized.
"With a capacity of 6 MVA, we hope that the 2 MVA will be distributed to the other side of the city," he added.
He also disclosed that the main problem of Lasureco is not the power system but the payment of its customers and the illegal tapping of lines.
He expressed appreciation to the management of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) Corporation for giving them the sustainable payment scheme.
We are on the final stage of rehabilitation and it is not easy to turn around the waves overnight but we will do our best to give our customers a stable power.
Maongco further cited that during the rehabilitation, they have installed additional 5 substations and converted the capacity of Lasureco from 30 MVA into 60.5 MVA.

We pay much of lasureco and they serve as little as a tiny ant, Is that what they promise? I heard a group of people will try to blow-up the main lasureco office if they keep on damaging a lot of appliances in the city... hahahah we need to wait i hope they success..
