Islamic City of Marawi (18 August) -- Lanao del Sur police operatives destroyed more than P170,000 worth of assorted firecrackers and liquors yesterday afternoon at Plaza Cabili, Banggolo, this city.
The assorted firecrackers and liquors were seized last August 14 while the provincial police operatives were conducting preventive foot and mobile patrols as well as checkpoint operations.
Provincial Director Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan said the seized firecrackers were confiscated in line with the Iwas Paputok campaign during Ramadhan.
He added that the confiscation of liquors is in response to the city ordinance prohibiting the selling of liquors within the city.
The Police chief also expressed appreciation to the community and the media for their full support and cooperation in ensuring a religious celebration of the holy month of Ramadhan.
