Islamic City of Marawi (5 August) -- The newly designated officer-in-charge of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LSPPO) is determined to introduce reforms in their operations, policies and procedures to gain the trust and confidence of the community.
Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan said he will institute reforms and changes for a more professional police force in the province.
"The reforms will be a continuing process and cannot be expected to happen overnight," he stressed.
As part of the reforms, Derogongan recently issued a memorandum to all police personnel detailed as security escorts of VIPs to observe proper wearing of uniforms while on duty.
He also reminded these security escorts not to ride at the back of the pick-up type vehicles when travelling within and outside their area of responsibility.
"It is a violation of the PNP Police Operational Procedures and such violation shall be sanctioned in accordance with the existing PNP rules and regulations," he added.
The new police OIC further said he is also presently reviewing and conducting personnel audit especially on police officers on detail status.
Moreover, Derogongan revealed his plan to organize a provincial police press corps to come up with a more systematic way of disseminating information to the public.
In a related development, constituents from this city and province expressed full support to the newly installed OIC for the job well done in decreasing street crimes in the city that resulted to the arrests of suspected snatchers, carnappers and holdapers.
Derogongan also received several calls from different non-government organizations and local government units extending appreciation after the notorious wanted person in the Basak area was finally laid to rest.
Family of the kidnapped victim, Noralden Yusoph, likewise expressed gratitude for his safe released.
