Islamic City of Marawi (11 August) -- The on-going registration for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and Barangay elections in this city and the entire province of Lanao del Sur is generally peaceful.
We have not experienced any untoward incidents except for the malfunctioning of some Data Capture Machine (DCM) peripherals which has been addressed properly, City Election Officer Atty. Tommy Macadindang said.
He said they experienced difficulty in capturing biometrics data because the web cameras malfunctioned.
Despite that, we still accepted applications and advised the applicants to return back for the capturing of their biometrics, Macadindang added.
In its Resolution 9004, the poll body said that in the event the DCMs become defective or the biometrics data of the applicant cannot be captured within the registration period due to great volume of applicants, absence of electricity or alternative source of power and analogous cases, the EO shall receive the application and inform the applicant when to return for data capture.
On the part of the PNP, Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan said so far there was no reported violence and untoward incidents that required the attention of the local police.
Derogongan said he also approved the request of the local COMELEC officials for security during the registration period.
