Police confiscates firecrackers, liquors in Marawi


Islamic City of Marawi (15 August) -- In response to the Iwas Paputok campaign during the month of Ramadhan, elements of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LSPPO) seized yesterday, August 14, assorted boxes of firecrackers with an estimated value of Php170,000.
According to Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan, officer-in-charge of LSPPO, the firecrackers were confiscated at the Palitan site in brgy. Lower Dansalan, this city while elements of the provincial police were conducting preventive mobile and foot patrols.
He said the assorted boxes of firecrackers were left abandoned by the owners upon sensing the presence of police elements in the area.
In addition, Derogongan likewise disclosed that while conducting checkpoint operations, they also confiscated 84 bottles of intoxicating drinks amounting to approximately Php 4,380.00.
He stressed the confiscation is in line with City Ordinance 100-96 or the “Ordinance prohibiting the selling of liquor within the Islamic City of Marawi."
Derogongan said the elements of LSPPO intercepted the blue Multicab carrying said liquors around 2:45 p.m. yesterday, August 14 at brgy. Pawak, Saguiaran town of this province.
He further said the multicab bearing the plate number of YCJ-657 is allegedly owned by Lilibeth P. Mugot of brgy Datu Saber, this city.
Both the confiscated firecrackers and liquors are now in the custody of LSPPO.
