Islamic City of Marawi (11 August) -- Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan, officer-in-charge of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LSPPO), challenged the youth to take part in building a peaceful and orderly community.
The police director hurled the challenge during the 2010 Silent Drill Competition held yesterday, August 10, at the Mindanao State University (MSU) grandstand.
He said the active participation and continuous support of the youth is needed in the fight against criminality in the province.
Derogongan likewise assured them that the police will intensify its drug prevention campaign by helping the youth find comfort in something more meaningful than using illegal drugs and committing crimes to sustain and finance their addiction.
The youngest police provincial director also stressed that the LSPPO under his new leadership will adhere to its mission of preventing and controlling crimes, ensuring public safety and maintaining peace and order.
Derogongan cited that although the police is not the chief responsible institution for strengthening family ties, the police can contribute much by preventing the proliferation of illegal drugs among young people which destroys many families.
The police chief further promised to make sure those laws ensuring equal opportunities for the youth will be implemented with urgency so that they can face the future with strong and solid foundation anchored on sound values, love and peace.
