MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Former Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary John Rualo Castriciones said the distribution of idle government lands will pave the way towards the restoration of peace and progress in the City and Lanao del Sur province.
During the culmination program of Kapananadem or Remembering the Marawi Liberation from the terrorist influence, Castriciones shared that DAR and the Department of National Defense (DND) collaborated in order to distribute the government-owned lands in Camp Keithley military reservation in the Islamic City.
“DND and DAR have fused our efforts in order to see to it that this should be accomplished in order to pave the way towards the restoration of peace and progress,” he said.
Castriciones also commended the efforts of President Rodrigo Roa Dutertefor his courage and wisdom in introducing Executive Order No. 75.
“He has introduced a law under EO 75 wherein idle government-owned lands which are agricultural land can be given away to all people particularly farmers who would like to engage themselves into agriculture,” he said.
The former DAR chief also shared the difficulty of developing lands that are not owned by the citizens themselves.
This military reservation is composed of 6,667 hectares and based on EO 75 and after the initial survey of DAR, 4,000 hectares of land will be distributed to the qualified beneficiaries in Marawi, Marantao, Piagapo, and Saguiaran towns in Lanao del Sur.
Castriciones hopes that this will be accomplished so that peace and restoration of Marawi and Lanao del Sur will be continued. He also said that progress will be attained if the people work together and fuse all efforts for the development of our country. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Sur)
