MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--City Mayor Majul Gandamra firmly maintained that the ongoing rehabilitation of the war-torn city is on target and will attain its full completion soon as he stressed that advancing projects inside the most affected area (MAA) will be completed accordingly.

“Masasabi ko po na [I can say that] we are on track and most of our projects will be completed within this year and probably lahat ng [all the] projects which were promised and committed by the government to be implemented ay matatapos [will be done] before the end of the term of our beloved President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” said Gandamra during the Network Briefing News Friday, October 8.

The local chief executive reaffirmed and backed the constant assurance of Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairperson Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario that the restoration proper is indeed on schedule considering that it started on July 1, 2020 and the fund was just downloaded to various implementing agencies at that time.

Gandamra said he can attest to the progress of the city and the events behind it as he is on the ground witnessing all the critical operations carried out by the government.

“Iyan ay masasabi ko kasi nasa ground tayo at nakikita natin ang development na nangyayari sa loob ng [That I can say because we are on the ground and we can see the development happening inside the] most affected area… I can say and fully agree with the statement of the national government through Secretary Del Rosario that we are on track in terms of the completion of the rehabilitation,” he said.

Gandamra also bared that even outside the ground zero, other projects including the road network and other public infrastructures are already done while some are still yet to be completed.

Per the recent visit of TFBM chief on September 16 this year, the rehabilitation of the city was noted to have 75% to 85% accomplishment already. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
