Massive info drive helps address vax hesitancy in Marawi

City Mayor Majul Gandamra shares during the Network Briefing News with PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar that massive information dissemination on the advantages of the COVID-19 vaccines helped address such hesitancy in the city.

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--The massive information drive conducted by the city government of Marawi has helped address the hesitancy of its residents to get vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

This was shared by City Mayor Majul Gandamra during the Network Briefing News with Communications Secretary Andanar on Friday, October 8.

"At first ay medyo may hesitation on the part of our constituents, but later on, because of massive dissemination  of information kung ano ang advantages kung tayo po ay nabakunahan, medyo dumami na po ang ating mga constituents na pumupunta dito sa City Hall upang sila ay magpabakuna," he said.

[At first, there was some hesitation on the part of our constituents, but later on, because of the massive dissemination of information on the advantages of getting vaccinated, many of our constituents came here at the City Hall to get them vaccinated.]

Gandamra said some residents also took part in the vaccination program by getting the jab at the Provincial Capitol which is also located within  the city,

The mayor said the information drive on the vaccination also helped counter fake news about the vaccine.

"We are also trying to counter yung mga fake news  kasi yun po ang nagiging sagabal doon sa pagpapabakuna ng ating mga kababayan, lalo na po kung meron mga fake news na nag didiscourage sa ating mga kababayan na magpabakuna," he further said.

[We are also trying to counter the fake news because that is the obstacle to the vaccination of our countrymen, especially if there are fake news that discourage our countrymen from getting vaccinated.]

Gandamra also emphasized the need to augment the existing supply of vaccines in the city so that more residents will be vaccinated against the dreaded Covid-19. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
