Gandamra says road networks key to a more progressive Marawi

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--City Mayor Majul Gandamra underscored the beneficial impacts of road networks towards the recovery of the war-torn city saying such an infrastructure is a key to the progress of the city.

"A road network such as this one is a pathway that connects our city to the various nearby municipalities and in the internal movement of people and goods in Marawi which could be the key to an even more progressive Marawi City," he said during the inauguration of the 18.97-kilometer Marawi Transcentral Road Phase 1, September 29.

Gandamra said the opening of the road network would ease the burden of motorists regarding traffic congestion and facilitate the smooth delivery of goods to and from the city.

Moreover, it would also promote businesses to open in the city which he stressed could generate more jobs for Marawi constituents.

"The opening of these roads is one of the ways that we could truly say that Marawi had risen.  As such, I would like again to express our heartfelt thanks to the Japan government, the JICA, and the Department of Public Works and Highways, the provincial government, and the different contractors for prioritizing this project and making it a reality," the mayor further said.
