MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur --The Marawi Sultanate League (MSL) has expressed its gratitude for the efforts of the government in protecting the cultural heritage of Maranaos and their religious practices.
MSL chairperson Sultan Nasser Sampaco conveyed this during the culmination program of the 4th anniversary of the liberation of the City from the terrorist influence.
“On behalf of Marawi Sultanate League, my heartfelt gratitude for restoring the heirloom of our cultural heritage and religious practices, for reframing our Islamic City,” he said.
With funds from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management – Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (NDRRM-MRRP), various infrastructure projects are currently underway. These are the School of Living Tradition, Marawi Museum, and Torogan - an important traditional house for Maranao culture.
Sampaco also appreciated Task Force Bangon Marawi for showing importance to their culture and religion. He is also thankful to the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police for their heroism during the siege in 2017.
According to him, they are thankful to the security forces for giving them liberty so they can live in harmony together for a peaceful and better Marawi. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Sur)
