MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur --The local government here conveyed to fully back President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s administration amid the ongoing rehabilitation of the war-torn city.

Mayor Majul Gandamra delivered his support to the national government during the Kapananadem held Saturday, October 16, for the fast-tracked restoration of the city which is evident in various accomplished infrastructures while some are already nearing their completion despite the challenges brought by different circumstances.

“We would like to reiterate our support for all that his administration has done and is still doing for Marawi City. Because of the continued support of our President, the development of our city’s most affected area and the whole city, in general, has been expedited while we have only started reconstructing last July 2020 and even in the middle of our responses to combat the COVID-19 pandemic which has certainly hampered the full implementation of these projects,” he said.

Gandamra thanked the President for being supportive as well since the commencement of the realization of the recovery plans and the establishment of Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) to implement necessary programs and projects.

“While we are still mourning for what has been lost, we can say that we have survived and lived in hope. Greatest thanks, however, are due to none other than our beloved President for being at the helm and for standing by us at the start of the great difficulty,” he said.

The local chief executive also extended his appreciation to the security forces, specifically to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), as he remembered how these troops bravely fought back to reclaim the city and set it free from the influence of the Maute terrorist group.

He recalled that some of them lost their lives in the line of their duty and as such, he assured that their sacrifices are and will not be in vain.

Gandamra said the city is now gearing forward to its total recovery.

“We, the people of Marawi City, are forever thankful to all of you and especially to our beloved President. Words will not be enough to express our profound thanks… We now thrive in the hope that in the course of the following years, Marawi will fully rise again,” he said. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
