MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Provincial Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. encouraged his constituents to get boosted to increase their protection against COVID-19.

The Governor made the call during the launching of the Pinas Lakas campaign in the province on Monday, August 1, where he received his second booster dose.

Noting the gradual increase of COVID-19  cases in some parts of the country, Adiong cited the need for the public to get booster shots to keep their immunity strong against the virus.

He emphasized that the booster dose is the best guard against serious complications, hospitalization, and death caused by COVID-19.

"Kailangan nating magpabooster para kung sakaling tamaan tayo ng COVID, di masyadong severe ang tatama sa atin. Kaya magpabooster na tayo," he said.

[We need to get boosted so that if we get hit by COVID, it won't be too severe. So let's get our boosters.]

Adiong also urged those who are eligible to receive a COVID vaccine but remain unvaccinated to get their shots, stressing that it is not just for themselves but for the welfare of their family and community.

He also reminded those who have been vaccinated to still observe the minimum health protocols.

Meanwhile, the newly-launched booster vaccination drive will be brought to the various communities in the province to reach the grassroots. The campaign aims to provide booster shots to 50 percent of the 12 years old and above population and vaccinate 90 percent of senior citizens to complete their first and second doses during the first 100 days of the Marcos administration.
