MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Lanao del Sur Board Member Jamil Faisal “Jeff” Adiong has been continuously showcasing his passion for the youths in the entire duration of his seat as the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federated President of the province.

This, as he envisions making the voice of the young generation stronger by making everyone else future-ready and occupying the spaces of the community.

Adiong stressed that the provincial government through his office has strived hard for the betterment of the youths by giving them platforms to maximize their full potential and making them realize that there is no monopoly of power and knowledge.

He detailed some of the efforts he already initiated such as the Ranaw Parliament wherein young people were readied to become legislators or policy lobbyists, and the Ranaw Project Grant Program which nurtured youths for social entrepreneurship considering that they are the backbone of the economy and development of the province.

Highlighting his previous and ongoing initiatives, Adiong cited that his end goal is sustainability as he hoped that his programs would continue even after the end of his term in December this year.

He stated that while it is challenging to be a youth in a world that is full of doubts and hesitations, he still looks forward that the young generation will be fully aware that they have the government and each other to continue pushing, inspiring and empowering each other.

“Maraming beses nachallenge tayo pero kailangan nating magpatuloy dahil [We have been challenged a lot of times but we need to continue because] if we stop the things that we are doing now, who else will do them? I think that is one of the fulfilling things that we are doing for youth development, na [that] we are trying to push for intergenerational development,” said Adiong.

The board member further underlined that the SK Federation alone cannot pursue initiatives for youth, thus, they multiply young advocates and leaders with the belief that the true voice of the youths is not in the SK president or the government, rather, it is in every young individual in communities.

“Kung gusto nating mas tumatag ang ating bayan, probinsya at bansa, kailangan natin ipagpatuloy na palakasin ang boses ng kabataan lalo na dito sa Lanao del Sur at Bangsamoro,” he said. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
