MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The City Schools Division of Marawi expressed gratitude to donors from various sectors that continue to extend aid to public schools through the “Brigada Eskwela” program.
During the kickoff ceremony of the week-long school maintenance program, the city government of Marawi donated cleaning and sanitation materials that will be distributed to schools in the city.
These included 100 pails, 100 dippers, 150 trash bins, 100 gallons with a faucet, 100 soft brooms, 100 broomsticks, 100 dustpans, 100 floor mops, and 70 Brigada Eskwela t-shirts.
City Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Dr. Zenaida Unte-Alonto said the provincial government also pledged P300,000 for the program.
"Marami din tayong [we also have other] donors like Save the Children, World Vision and Synergeia who has helped us one way or the other through skills and hard interventions para sa pagubukas sa ating mga paaralan [for the opening of our schools]," she said.
Brigada Eskwela is one of the most-anticipated back-to-school activities of the education department championing the spirit of volunteerism and Bayanihan as it engages stakeholders’ maximum participation in ensuring schools’ preparedness for the opening of classes.
It involves physical cleaning, painting, repainting, and doing minor repairs in schools. This year, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, Brigada Eskwela also includes primary and booster vaccination rollout for teachers, learners, and community members. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
