MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur launched the nationwide booster vaccination drive against Covid-19 in the province Monday, August 1.

IPHO chief Dr. Alinader Minalang said the drive dubbed “Sa Booster Pinas Lakas" is one of the directives given by the President to make the country stronger by giving additional protection to all Filipinos.

Anchored on the theme "Sabay Tayong Babangon, Magpabooster Ngayon," the campaign aims to administer booster shots to about 50 percent of the 12 years old and above target population in the first 100 days of the administration of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

It is also geared to inoculate 90 percent of the target senior citizens to complete their first and second doses.

To date, 51 percent of the target population in the province has been vaccinated against COVID-19. Although the highest coverage among the provinces in the Bangsamoro region, Minalang admitted that they are still far from achieving the target herd immunity of 80% of the eligible population.

The IPHO chief said they will hold an intensified vaccination drive in communities to reach the grassroots after the Pinas Lakas launching at the Provincial Capitol.

Among those who took their booster jabs during the launching were provincial government employees and officials led by Governor Mamintal "Bombit" Alonto Adiong Jr.
