Islamic City of Marawi (8 October) -- To facilitate the convergence of efforts in solving internal security problems, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur has recently created the Provincial Internal Security Coordinating Center (PISCC).
Provincial Information Officer Nasser M. Ganda said the PISCC, composed of six (6) various committees, serves as the operating machinery of the provincial peace and order council.
He said it is composed of six (6) various committees namely joint internal security coordinating committee (JISCC) political, socio-economic, cultural, environmental, and public information.
He also stressed the role of each committee during their recent coordination meeting held at Kampo Ranao, this city.
According to him, the JISCC will be responsible in enforcing the rule of law, promoting peace and order and prosecuting cases.
The political committee, he further said, is composed of local government offices involved in governance while the socio-economic committee is composed of local government offices involved in socio-economic development.
He also emphasized that said committee is going to cater to the welfare and well-being of the people through the delivery of basic social services, education, as well as disaster response and relief operations.
On the other hand, Ganda said the cultural committee is composed of government offices involved in the promotion of cultural harmony, peace advocacy and conflict resolution.
The provincial information officer also cited the role of the environment committee which is centered on environmental preservation and waste management.
The public information committee is meanwhile responsible for the prompt and truthful delivery of public information, dissemination of information about the programs and projects of the government as well as countering misinformation or disinformation, he added.
During the meeting, said committees presented their recommended action plans to address the current peace and order in the province.
