Islamic City of Marawi (8 October) -- The conduct of the PhilHealth Sabado in Lanao del Sur is quite successful despite limitations in the preparations.
According to Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) head Dr. Alinader Minalang, more than 10,000 persons were registered as PhilHealth members in the six designated registration sites all over the province during the nationwide launching of the PhilHealth Sabado, last October 2.
Dubbed as'PhilHealth Sabado, Magseguro, Magparehistro,' the program is in response to the order of President Benigno Aquino III during his first State of the Nation Address that all Filipinos should have universal health insurance coverage within three years.
It was just the start of a continuing program and we will continue this until we reach the universal coverage here in the province, stressed Minalang.
During the launching, the IPHO team also conducted medical services such as giving of Vitamin A, deworming tabs, ferrous sulphate and AH1N1 vaccines and provided pre-natal services and blood pressure taking, he cited.
On the other hand, PhilHealth Marawi Service Office head Kassandra Louisa Mamainte, revealed that Marawi City has the largest number of registrants served during the day with about 8,000 persons.
According to City Health Officer Dr. Faisal Idris, the good performance of the city can be attributed to the massive advocacy campaign they conducted prior to the registration date and the participation of all concerned agencies especially the barangay chairmen.
