Islamic City of Marawi (4 October) -- Three (3) suspects of a robbery hold-up were collared by the elements of the Marawi City Police Station Alert Team and the 1st Maneuver Platoon Wednesday night at barangay Pagalongan in Ditsaan-Ramain town of Lanao del Sur.
Police Provincial Director Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan identified the arrested suspects as Abdulbasit Azis H.Manan, Abit Dadayan, and Magsay Datu.
The three were allegedly responsible for the shooting of the 21-year old Asnawi Datumanong, a Hafiz (Qur'an Memorizer) and Ustaj (Islamic Instructor), at the vicinity of Islamic Center Mosque in Pangarungan Village of this city around 6:30pm of September 29.
According to Derogongan, Datumanong was on his way home from the mosque after performing Magrib (sunset prayer) when the suspects riding in a motorcycle shot him four (4) times using Caliber.45 pistol.
Datumanong was hit in the head thrice causing his immediate death, he said.
He further said the suspects took Datumanong's plastic bag containing toys and his money amounting to approximately Php5,000.
The provincial police director also added that the black Honda SRM motorcycle used by the suspects bearing the plate 3162-GI was also seized by them.
The suspects are now detained at the Marawi City Detention Cell while the seized motorcycle is in the custody of the provincial police headquarters for further investigation and filing of appropriate charges in court, he further added.
