Islamic City of Marawi (22 October) -- Local candidates contending for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) posts here signed a peace pact to ensure peaceful and orderly elections on Monday, October 25.
Atty. Tommy Macadindang, City Election Officer, said the peace accord was signed specifically by the candidates from the twenty-six (26) barangays declared by the Commission on Elections, Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police as election hot spots.
He said the candidates have pledged to obey the rules and regulations set forth by the poll body.
Having signed the covenant of peace, they have committed themselves to cooperate for the conduct of honest, orderly and peaceful elections, Macadindang stressed.
According to him, the candidates have also vowed to reject all forms of cheating, violence, intimidation and coercion just to be elected into position.
The members of the Joint Security Control Center will file a disqualification against those found to have violated the peace accord, cited Macadindang.
