Islamic City of Marawi (26 October) -- The casting of votes in 10 towns in the province of Lanao del Sur went smoothly yesterday despite few expected violent incidents.
Based on the report gathered from the Brigade Election Monitoring Action Center, the casting of votes in the towns of Balabagan, Kapai, Tagoloan, Kapatagan, Tubaran, Picong, Pagayawan, Calanogas, Ganassi and Tugaya was conducted successfully.
Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Nasib Yasin said the counting of votes and canvassing are being done at the respective municipalities except for Tugaya in which the votes are being counted and canvassed at the provincial hall here in the city.
He said they opted to do the counting and canvassing in a safer place.
Tugaya was one of the areas identified as hot spots in the province.
In a related development, only 73 of the 96 barangays here have conducted the elections.
The elections in the remaining 23 barangays were postponed for today because the election materials never reached the polling places.
