Islamic City of Marawi (8 October) -- Mayor Fahad 'Pre' Salic assured the public that the peace and order situation here remains stable and under control.
The mayor also stressed that the police is always on top of the situation.
The city mayor made the assurance following the rally conducted by civil society organizations yesterday condemning the shooting of Asnawi Datumanong, a Hafiz (Qur'an memorizer) and Ustaj (Islamic instructor).
Datumanong was shot on the evening of September 29 at the vicinity of the Islamic Center Mosque in Pangarungan Village, this city.
According to Salic, the local police authorities responded immediately to the incident and have arrested the perpetrators.
He said the suspects were now detained at the city jail and a case was already filed against them.
He also lauded the police forces headed by provincial director Police Superintendent Cosanie Derogongan and new city director Police Inspector Macabidar Amintao for a job well done in pinning down the suspects.
