Islamic City of Marawi (25 October) -- The security forces are now in place and prepared for the conduct of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in Lanao del Sur.
According to Brigadier General Rey Ardo, commanding officer of the 103rd Brigade of the Philippine Army (PA), two (2) company from the 1st Division of the PA already arrived in the province to augment their existing three (3) Battalions.
Two (2) choppers are also on standby to provide whatever air security requirements needed on the elections day.
He said some of their troops were already deployed while the others are on standby to serve as the security for the transport of the ballot boxes and election paraphernalia to the municipal treasurer offices.
On the part of the PNP, Police Superintendent Cosanie Derogongan said police personnel were also deployed to different polling place in the province.
He said additional troops from the ARMM Regional Public Safety Battalion to be deployed to the areas of immediate concerns also arrived.
The provincial director also disclosed that more than 500 police trainees from regions 9,10 and Caraga arrived yesterday to serve as board of election tellers in the identified hot spot areas while some are reserve in case of shortage of teachers.
As of press time, no election related incident was reported.
