MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Aiming to extend aid to vulnerable sectors that need livelihood, the Office of Member of Parliament (MP) Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph through the Siyap Ko Mga Bae Program turned over toolkits, specifically ovens and sewing machines, to 50 women beneficiaries who were identified as residents near the landfill area in Brgy. Papandayan Caniogan, this city.

Apart from the equipment, the recipients also received start-up capital amounting to P15,000 each as they have already undergone their training for dressmaking, and bread and pastry before this.

Latiph shared that her initiative was established in 2021 after they surveyed the dumpsite area of the target village and found out that most women situated in the place did not have enough means of livelihood.

She said that through their collaboration with the Bangsamoro Transition Authority-Gender and Development (BTA-GAD), Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education-Technical Education Skills and Development (MBHTE-TESD), and Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), they were able to extend free training for dressmaking and bread and pastry with transportation and load allowance, among others.

Latiph highlighted that through this, they become optimistic that women are given enough help and inspiration to change the way they have lived.

She reminded the women beneficiaries to always remember that they bear a significant role in their own families as they are the light of homes. She hopes that they will remain strong in facing all the challenges in life.

The MP also committed more support, especially to the needing sectors.

"Ang Bangsamoro government at ang aking opisina ay patuloy na susuporta sa mga programang makakatulong sa mga vulnerable na sector ng Bangsamoro. Nawa'y gabayan tayo lagi ni Allah sa ating mga adhikain," said Latiph.

[The Bangsamoro government and my office will continuously support programs that will help vulnerable sectors of Bangsamoro. May we all be guided by Allah in our undertakings.]

Meanwhile, MBHTE-TESD Lanao del Sur Provincial Director Aleida Nameerah Mangata expressed her delightedness for the assistance given to the beneficiaries as she cited the significant contribution of the aid in providing livelihood opportunities to the people.

“Kami, sa provincial office ng MBHTE-TESD, ay hindi namin kaya na matugunan lahat ng inyong pangangailangan kaya lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa mga partner tulad ng ating MP Atty. Maisara kasi natutupad natin ang ating mga hangarin na matulungan lahat,” she said.

[We, in the provincial office of MBHTE-TESD, cannot provide all of your needs that is why we are grateful to partners like our MP Atty. Maisara because we can still fulfill our goal of helping all of everyone.]

With the training, toolkits, and start-up capital, the beneficiaries were reminded that they would still be monitored and evaluated if their livelihood will prosper.

The host solon said that if this initiative would turn out positively, they would present the same program to the Bangsamoro government so that efforts like this may be accordingly funded.

Latiph further said that they plan for an expansion of the program to cover more vulnerable communities. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
