Solons call for unity to spur dev't in Lanao del Sur

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Representatives of the two congressional districts of Lanao del Sur has called on newly-elected local officials to work together as the province heads towards development.

In his opening remarks during the mass oathtaking of local officials on Monday, July 4, 1st District Representative Ziaur-Rahman Adiong appealed for unity among his constituents, winning officials and their opponents in the recently held national and local elections. 

He said they all need to rally behind the call of the new administration for unity and national healing.

"InshaAllah [God willing] Lanao del Sur will continue to soar high and will continue to achieve her maximum potential. We can do this if we do this together," he said.

2nd District Representative Yasser Balindong also affirmed the importance of unity among elected officials and their constituents in strengthening good governance, consultative decision-making, and people-oriented policy implementation. 

Meanwhile, Adiong told the newly-elected officials that they are now obligated to hold the responsibilities of their respective positions by efficiently delivering quality service to their people. "We are no longer politicians as the election is over, we are now public servants," he emphasized. 

Balindong, on the other hand, said the oath that they have taken symbolizes their commitment to serve the people as well as a reminder that they must lead their towns, city, and the province with due transparency and accountability.(APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
