IPHO Lanao del Sur opens new building

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) -- The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) in Lanao del Sur opened its new building in pursuit of providing quality health services in the province.

The building houses its technical, training, and administrative offices as well as its emergency management unit and disease surveillance units.

The three-storey facility, located at the Annex of the Provincial Capitol in Marawi, was inaugurated Wednesday, July 20, by IPHO in collaboration with the Bangsamoro government and the provincial government of Lanao del Sur which funded and implemented the project, respectively.

"Nagpapasalamat tayo that we were able to attain one of the things na matagal na nating minimithi, ang magkaroon ng sariling building, sariling opisina [we are thankful that we were able to attain one of the things that we have long dreamed of, that is, having our own building, our own office]," said IPHO chief Dr. Alinader Minalang.

Minalang said having a new building would contribute to realizing the vision of IPHO to be a model health organization in providing high quality, excellent and responsive health services to its constituents in an adequately, highly functional, and resilient healthy facility.

For that, he thanked the Bangsamoro government, especially its Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim for providing funds for the construction of the building while the Ministry of Health supplied LED screens and displays.

"This building is a testament to the BARMM government and Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim’s genuine commitment to ensure the delivery of accessible, available, and quality health services to the Bangsamoro and the commitment of the entire BARMM government to uplift the lives of our constituents in the entire Bangsamoro," he said.

Minalang further emphasized that, for them, the new building is a legacy of the BARMM government as the IPHO is geared towards Universal Health Care for Bangsamoro through a responsive and resilient health system and facilities where they can deliver the services.

Vice-Governor Mohammad Khalid "Mujam" Adiong hands over the ceremonial key to IPHO Lanao del Sur chief Dr. Alinader Minalang signaling the opening of the new IPHO building inside the Provincial Capitol in Marawi City. Witnessing the inauguration of the building are Amai Pakpak Medical Center Chief Dr. Pinky Rakiin, Member of the Parliament Marjanie Macasalong, BARMM's OIC Health Minister Dr. Zul Qarneyn Abas, and DOH-Field Implementation and Coordination Team for Visayas and Mindanao Undersecretary Dr. Abdullah Dumama Jr. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)

The IPHO chief also conveyed his gratitude to the provincial government for implementing the project and providing the 1,000-square-meter lot where the building was erected.

According to him, the provincial government also installed an air-conditioning system in the building costing about P800,000.

In response, Provincial Vice-Governor Mohammad Khalid "Mujam" Adiong gave assurance that they will continue to support the advocacy of IPHO to provide universal health care for Bangsamoro.

"Makakaasa ka na kami ay magbibigay ng [you can expect that we will provide] efficient, effective, and economical assistance in the implementation of health services and programs of IPHO-LDS," he said citing the primary health services of the IPHO as essential to the promotion of general welfare.

Meanwhile, Minalang bared that two amenities of the building were named after two mujahideen of the Bangsamoro who devoted their lives in pursuit of peace and autonomy. These amenities are the Aleem Abdul Azis Mimbantas Health Emergency Operations Center and the Ustadz Hashim Salamat Learning and Development Center.

"These infrastructures, the Aleem Abdul Azis Mimbantas Health Emergency Operations Center and the Ustadz Hashim Salamat Learning and Development Center, are proof that our Bangsamoro government is continuously building better environments that are conducive to healing and public service delivery. May these projects represent our solidarity and cooperation, let us take care of these facilities and make them readily available to every Bangsamoro," said chief minister Ebrahim in a message delivered virtually during the inauguration.
