MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Benefitting citizens who reside in Brgy. Maindig in the municipality of Ditsaan-Ramain in the province of Lanao del Sur magnified their happiness as they underwent the financial management training of the Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) - Philippines under the Sustaining Transformative and Resilient Initiative for Vulnerable Communities (STRIVEC) in Ranao Philippines Program funded by the IRW-Canada.
In partnership with the Bangsamoro region’s Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT), the residents of the said village were part of the 600 beneficiaries who shall be formed in a group with ten members each and then provided with P50,000 start-up capital to start their businesses.
Maindig Barangay Chairwoman Olindang Pacatowa expressed her happiness as her barangay is one of the target communities of IRW-Philippines for their program.
She underscored that this will be a big help to her constituents who do not have any livelihood at the moment.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Islamic Relief dahil nasali ang barangay ko sa activity ng Islamic Relief. Sana makatulong ito sa kanila [sa mga benepisyaryo]. Sana magamit nila sa tamang gusto nila na business,” said Pacatowa.
[I am thankful to the Islamic Relief because my barangay is part of the activity of the Islamic Relief. I hope this can help them [beneficiaries]. I hope they can use this in the right way and their desired business.]
Beneficiary Valma Salic thanked the IRW-Philippines for giving what they truly need in this current time.
He said joining the financial management training taught them how to properly handle businesses with ways on how to gain profit and be united when in a cooperative.
Another beneficiary Baimah Lucman extended her gratitude to IRW-Philippines for leading the financial management training which they see as a chance to learn things they did not know about a business such as how to process the business registration.
“Sa Islamic Relief, talagang maganda talaga iyong impact ng [programa] nila dito. Nagpapasalamat kami dito sa Brgy. Maindig kasi nakapagbigay rin sila ng opportunity. Natarget ang barangay namin, para dito sa mga taong walang trabaho at mga jobless dahil sa siege at pandemic. Hindi makapagtrabaho ang mga tao dahil nasa bahay lang,” she said.
Beneficiary Menor Alonto stated that the effort of the IRW-Philippines is a wonderful act as it has helped the people of his barangay.
He said it was through its financial management training that they learned how to register their business and coordinate with other people to make their plans prosper.
Alonto also mentioned that for him who is inexperienced, he is grateful for the opportunity given by the IRW-Philippines to have him feel how it is to have his own business.
Another beneficiary Noronisa Laguindab Amin said she was delighted to have been selected as one of the beneficiaries of the program of the IRW-Philippines, and a jobless person like her has been taught how to do business.
Beneficiary Salima Ampaso was also happy because she was given the opportunity to have a livelihood by building her own business.
Another beneficiary Asnifah Mikdaw was likewise joyful after joining the financial management training of the IRW-Philippines as she learned how to make their business successful.
“Sana lumawak ang pagtulong nila sa iba. Maraming salamat sa kanila dahil matutulungan kami sa puhunan namin,” she said.
[I hope they widen their help to others. I am very thankful to them because their capital can help us.] (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
