MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Re-elected governor Mamintal "Bombit" Adiong Jr. of Lanao del Sur laid out his development priorities during his first 100 days in office.

In his inaugural address which he delivered during the 63rd Araw ng Lanao del Sur on Monday, July 4, Adiong said he would prioritize energization, agriculture, tourism, water system improvements, and infrastructure development.

"Unang prayoridad natin ang enerhiya. Hindi lingid sa ating kaalaman ang naging isyu at banta ng power disconnection sa Lanao del Sur kamakailan. Dahil dito, ang tugon natin ay ang pagpapatupad ng productive use of renewable energy na siyang napapaloob sa Development for  Renewable Energy Applications Mainstreaming and Market  Sustainability o DREAMS Project na pangangasiwaan ng Provincial Government katulong ang Department of Energy (DOE) at UNDP," he said.

[Our first priority is energy. The recent issue and threat of power disconnection in Lanao del Sur is not unknown to us. Because of this, our response is the implementation of productive use of renewable energy which is included in the "Development for Renewable Energy Applications Mainstreaming and Market Sustainability" or DREAMS Project to be managed by the Provincial Government in collaboration with the Department of Energy and UNDP.]

As an initial step, Adiong said the Provincial Government and the DOE have signed a memorandum of undertaking on June 15, 2022  for the immediate implementation of the solarization of the Provincial Capitol and the electrification of the two islands of Balt.

The governor said he would also strengthen the supply of rice in the province through the Upland and Lowland Rice Development Program. At the same time, his administration would establish the Fertilizer Program, specifically on organic fertilizer-making, and distribute  2,898 pockets of corn and rice fertilizers.

He would also establish an 11-hectare Integrated Demo Farm in Marantao-Piagapo to ensure food security and agricultural sustainability while intensifying market linkage to connect local farmers to the market.

"Ipapatupad natin ang “Food Always in the Home Program” sa pamamagitan ng pagbahagi ng 50,000 vegetable seed packs para sa 10,000 na pamilya at  magsasaka o hardenero. Bibigyang-katuparan natin ang pagbubungkal ng 100-hectare na farmland sa pamamagitan ng farm machinery services, gayundin ang pamamahagi ng 96,000 fingerlings ng karpa at tilapia sa mga mangingisda," he added.

[We will implement the “Food Always in the Home Program” by distributing 50,000 vegetable seed packs to 10,000 families and farmers or gardeners. We will realize the cultivation of 100-hectare farmland through farm machinery services, as well as the distribution of 96,000 carp and tilapia fingerlings to fisherfolks.]

Adiong further said his administration will likewise implement tourism projects such as the “Okiran Tano” which aims to promote the use of Okir in all materials and signages throughout the province.

In terms of infrastructure, Adiongsaid they will continue the rehabilitation of provincial bridges, as well as the construction of the Provincial Gymnasium, Provincial Hospital, Provincial Infirmary, Provincial Food Terminal, and Medical Oxygen Plant.

Adiong Jr. said his administration will also complete the potable water supply system at three locations in Marawi City and the extension of the Marawi City Water System to five barangays of the city.

Meanwhile, the governor extended his gratitude for the trust and confidence given to him by the people of Lanao del Sur to lead the province once again. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
