MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--As the government troop successfully encountered the Dawlah-Islamiyah terrorists in Maguing town in Lanao del Sur on March 1, Task Force Bangon Marawi Chairperson Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario conveyed that this is a good news for the people to know that the unlawful elements are already weakened.
“This is great news for the people of Marawi and Mindanao because we will see that the enemy of the State, the ISIS-Maute group who are organizing and training combatants, were neutralized and their fighting capability minimized. I think this would bring further peace to this part of the country,” he said during his visit to the 103rd Infantry Brigade Thursday, March 3.
Del Rosario stated that more citizens have already been suffering so much and if firearms, explosive devices, and other weapons were not recovered, this would mean hundreds of deaths.
Their retrieval, on the other hand, likewise signified that they were able to save lives and uphold a peaceful environment which will be prevalent in no time in the provinces of Lanao del Sur and Norte.
Del Rosario further related the incident to the ongoing rehabilitation in the city following the siege in 2017, stating that the recent triumph guaranteed secured places despite the encounter.
“This encounter would mean good news for the rehabilitation that we are now doing in Marawi City. Because of this, we are now assured that the peaceful environment will really be attained with the cooperation of Mindanao themselves, most especially Lanao del Sur and Norte residents,” he said.
