24-year old student Asliah Calandada thanked the initiators as she saw the effort as an opportunity to return to her studies although she has stopped for quite a time already and with own family now.
Binigyan nila kami ng pagkakataon na makapag-aral ulit,” she said.
[I am thankful for the Alternative Learning System. Because of them, even though we have already given birth, we were still given a chance to study again. I stopped [studying] because I married early but that did not hinder us because of ALS. They gave us a chance to study again.]
Another student Saima Madali Binuar who is 28 years old also expressed her gratitude to the military as it helped them to once again grasp for more learnings in life.
Lubos akong natutuwa dahil sila ang aking mga naging guro,” she said.
[We, ALS students, are wholeheartedly thanking our good soldiers. I am thankful because I was able to return to studying with the help of ALS and our mobile teachers. Thank you so much because I learned a lot from them and they shared lots of lessons as well. I am very much happy because they became our teachers.]
Saima Madali Binuar, also a pupil of ALS and now 23 years old, shared how happy she was with the implementation of the program in their area.
[I am thankful because this program arrived for us in which we can study. I am also thanking the soldiers because if it had not been for them, we would not be able to study through ALS. I study again so that I may also learn. I hope the ALS will continue for others to also be helped.]
Meanwhile, student Ammie Lininding who is 19 years of age attested that citizens from her place have appreciated the advantage of the program and so, she appealed that this may not be stopped for others to also avail.
[I am thankful for this program because they were able to help a lot of people and make them happy. We were able to continue our studies through ALS. Thank you to those who guided and supported us. I hope this continues. May they not grow weary in helping us because you are our only hope.]
About 310 ALS students are currently recorded, benefitting the initiative of the battalion. According to its commanding officer LtCol. Fernando Payapaya, 160 of these learners are from Piagapo town while the other 150 are from Madalum town. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
