MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Following the inauguration of a new masjid in the most affected area named Macaorao Mosque Thursday, March 3, Mayor Majul Gandamra conveyed his gratitude for the completion of houses of religious worship here.
He gave thanks to the national government for looking for possible means to fund the building of mosques, especially since it is prohibited to pour its funds on such a matter with the separation of the State and the Church as stipulated in the Constitution.
Gandamra further extended his gratefulness to the private donors for their generosity in backing the construction of these.
He said not only the recently finished Macaorao Mosque was constructed for the people of the city but previously, more mosques were already inaugurated. Hindi lang isang mosque ang naipagawa dito sa Marawi City. Marami ng mosques ang ginawa dito at marami pa ang susunod.
As such, the mayor expressed how momentous this foundation of masjids is noting that this is taking a significant part for the Muslim community.
“Alam natin na sa pamumuhay ng isang Muslim, napakaimportante ang establishment ng isang mosque dahil ito ay bahagi ng ating identity… Makakaasa kayo na sa pagbalik natin dito ay makikita pa natin ang mga imprakstraktura na papakinabangan niyo dito sa Marawi City,” said Gandamra.
