MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur_-The provincial government here is ramping up the construction of health facilities to elevate the provision of quality healthcare services to its people.
On Thursday, February 24, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in Marantao town to signal the start of the construction for the Lanao del Sur Provincial Hospital.
Engr. Dimasira Macabando, Jr., chief of the Provincial Engineer's Office, said the three-storey hospital with a 100-bed capacity will rise in the 10,500-square meter lot donated to the provincial government.
In addition to the hospital, Macabando said they are also waiting for the "go signal" from the Bangsamoro government's Ministry of Health for the construction of a medical oxygen plant near the soon-to-rise Provincial Hospital.
He said the oxygen plant is part of the local government's response to the demand for oxygen due to the coronavirus outbreak and is seen to boost the supply of medical oxygen of Amai Pakpak Medical Center and other hospitals in the province and nearby localities.
The provincial engineer also disclosed that a 36-bed Provincial Infirmary near the Provincial Gymnasium is also underway.
Meanwhile, the Bangsamoro government is likewise pushing for the expansion of the district hospitals in the province to boost the delivery of healthcare services in the locality and contribute to the attainment of optimum health for the people in the Bangsamoro Region. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
