MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Provincial government officials along with officers of the health department in the province broke ground in Marantao town on Thursday, February 24, for the P650-million Lanao del Sur Provincial Hospital project envisioned to provide premier health care services to Lanao del Sur residents, as well as patients from surrounding communities.
Governor Mamintal Alonto-Adiong Jr. together with Marantao mayor Akira Alonto led the ceremony that marked the start of construction for the 100-bed health facility that is expected to be finished in the second quarter of next year.
"This is included in the game-changer projects of Governor Adiong which is aligned with the provincial government's Vision 2040. Hopefully, this project will be completed within 435 calendars days or around the first or second quarter of 2023...and it will be operational in the second quarter under the management of the Provincial Health Office," said Provincial Engineer Dimasira Macabando, Jr.
Macabando said the project, when completed, will create more job opportunities for the people of the province.
This was affirmed by Dr. Alinader Minalang, chief of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) under the Bangsamoro government's Ministry of Health. "This is a 100-bed capacity hospital and expected natin na ang [that the] manpower is 500 up. It will not only improve our health services but will also create jobs for medical and even non-medical personnel kaya malaking tulong ito [that is why this is a big help] in alleviating the economic status dito sa [here in] Lanao del Sur," he said.
Minalang said the soon-to-rise provincial hospital will complement the Amai Pakpak Medical Center and district hospitals in Lanao del Sur. Currently, the province has five district hospitals, three have 25 beds each while the other two are 10-bed facilities. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
