Village chiefs thankful for new, bigger barangay complex

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Two village officials here conveyed their appreciation to the national government through the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) for the construction of new and bigger barangay complexes in their respective villages.

Norodin Mambuay Jr., Punong Barangay of Wawalayan Marinaut, said compared to the previous barangay hall, the new barangay complex is complete with facilities to provide the service that every family needs.

"Aside from having an office in this complex, it also has its own health center and Botika ng Barangay that will cater to everyone, a social hall where we can gather for any program or religious activities," described Sittie Aina Macabando-Usman, Punong Barangay of Kapantaran.

The barangay complex of Wawalayan Marinaut and Kapantaran were the latest completed village facilities inaugurated by TFBM and the city government of Marawi. Each complex features an office of barangay officials, a session hall, a social hall, a madrasah, and a health center.

Its construction is part of the various infrastructure projects implemented by the city government inside the most affected area of the city under the Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Program.

Filled with gratitude for the help their barangay received to progress further, Mambuay gave an assurance that they will take good care of the facility. "Iingatan at aalagaan namin ang gusaling ito para sa lalong ikakabuti at ikakaunlad ng aming barangay [we will preserve and take care of this building for the betterment and development of our barangay]," he said.

Meanwhile, Asec. Felix Castro Jr., TFBM field office manager, reminded the officials of the recipient barangays to perform their duties well and respond better to the needs of their constituents.

"Kapag maganda na yung ating barangay hall, expected din sa atin yung magandang trabaho [when our barangay hall is beautiful, we are also expected to do our good work]," he said. (APB/PIA ICIC)
