MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur --With the development of various infrastructure projects in the ground zero in the city, particularly those fronting Lake Lanao, the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) foresees that the area shall transform into a tourist attraction in the coming future.
TFBM Chairperson Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario stated that anyone can witness the beauty of the heart of the most affected area (MAA) – the front of the lake which used to be the place where different establishments stood, mostly commercial buildings, and now converted into so many facilities including the Sports Complex, Convention Center, and Grand Padian Market, among others.
“These will serve as tourist attractions because of the vision of water sports and facilities that can be done in the lake itself. We expect both local and foreign tourists,” he said during the inauguration of the traffic management center Thursday, March 3.
Del Rosario conveyed that he will not be surprised that the city will become one of the top tourist destinations in Mindanao considering the ongoing advancement.
“This is in accordance with our three major objectives that we would like to have and that is for the rehabilitation to serve as a catalyst for growth and development because, without these infrastructures, there will be no trigger or catalyst for growth,” he said.
In addition to the aforementioned infrastructures, the government also built barangay halls housing the office of barangay officials, a health center, and a madrasah center.
The TFBM chief further stressed that the restoration process that has taken place just exemplifies good governance and fulfillment of the promise of bringing back the glory of the siege-wrecked city. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
