MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Mayor Majul Gandamra here underscored that the newly-inaugurated school building is a significant investment of the government for the youth of this country.
Under the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management - Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Program (NDRMM-MRRRP), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the first of the ten four-storey integrated school buildings with 20 classrooms in Brgy. Moncado Kadingilan Thursday, March 3.
“The completion of this facility goes to show that the national government does not only focus on our economic stability, our roads and infrastructures but also on the education of our children… This school building signifies that more than anything else, it is important to invest in our youth as they are the future of our society,” said Gandamra in his speech.
The mayor recalled that during the onset of the post-siege, the education sector has been recognized as one of the most devastated and disrupted which was further aggravated with the outbreak of the coronavirus disease pandemic.
With the completion of the new school building, Gandamra stated that at least hundreds of learners within the city, especially the youth, can now be accommodated with their lives leaning to positive change as high-quality education shall already be served.
"Investing in our youth, we are investing not only in their future but the future of the whole city in general. Sana papakinabangan natin itong magandang pasilidad na ito at gamitin natin upang tayo ay magkaroon ng magandang kinabukasan sapagkat ako ay naniniwala na ang magandang kinabukasan ng ating mga kabataan ay susi sa mas progresibong lungsod,” he said.

Gandamra stressed that despite the obstacles, the schools in the city are still continuously operating with the learning continuity getting stronger due to the support of the national government and other partners, and the immediate response of the local government partnered with the resilience of teachers and staff of the Department of Education (DepEd).
As the school building is now ready for utilization, he additionally conveyed to the educators to just continue their started effort and duties to sustain the aid of the government in bringing back the normalcy of the education here in the city. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
