MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--The City Engineers Office (CEO) through the Office of Building Official (OBO) facilitated the conduct of the ceremonial program for Barangay Kapantaran Kathagombalay (Rebuilding/Reconstruction of damaged houses).

A total of 200 homeowners of the said barangay of Sector 4 in the most affected area (MAA) of the city have already complied with the documentary requirements for obtaining a building permit, including the physical inspection of their structures for structural integrity.

Out of the 200 structures inspected, 62 were found to be structurally inadequate for repair, and IDPs were recommended to rebuild them. Meanwhile, 138 structures were found to be structurally sound enough to be repaired.

During the ceremonial program, Mayor Majul Gandaram said the homeowners may not occupy their properties while they repair or reconstruct them.

“While you are repairing your houses, you are under the responsibility of the LGU. Hence you cannot occupy your properties while you are repairing them, for your safety. However, a representative from your family may stay, along with your labourers, for purposes of securing your materials. We will permit that,” he said in Meranaw dialect.

The actual inspection was conducted by the engineers from the CEO OBO together with the barangay chairperson and their Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Sur)
