MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--City Mayor Majul Gandamra underscored anew the importance of the Marawi Local School Board (LSB) in ensuring the delivery of quality education in the city.

In his address during the Barangay Education Summit, Gandamra spoke of the vital role of LSB  in strengthening the pathways for learning continuity.

"We, in the council, have designed projects, programs, and activities that are targeted to better the lives of the teachers and our students alike. We have provided for the building of various school facilities, purchasing of necessary technologies, especially during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, and providing funding for the various activities of the Marawi City Schools Division," he said.

The mayor said the LSB has also served as a haven for teachers for all their concerns in their respective schools as well as an advisory committee of the Sangguniang Panglungsod in enacting local laws and ordinances for the benefit of both teachers and students.

He further emphasized that the LSB has stayed true to its mandate by being the helping hand of the local government in delivering educational services amidst the pandemic.

As chairman of the LSB, Gandamra also commended the teachers, administrators, and staff of the City Schools Division of Marawi (CSDM) for continuously providing Marawi learners with the knowledge and skills that they ought to have despite the difficult and precarious situation.

"The world today may be full of uncertainties and having difficulties but one thing is for sure, our noble educators will continue to forward 'edukalidad' to all our learners be it under a papaya tree, in a classroom, or on an online platform. With this, I am very proud of you," he said.

As an appreciation, the mayor turned over one e-trike to the CSDM as additional support for the expansion of limited face-to-face classes in the city. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
