MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--To give attention to the overall well-being of the constituents amid today’s era of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic, the local government here through its City Health Office (CHO) in partnership with the Bangsamoro region’s Ministry of Health (MOH) celebrated the National Heart and Dental Health Month through rendering relevant medical services.

During the celebration program Monday, February 21, various efforts were served such as the calculation of body mass index to screen the body fatness for the weight category, Hemoglobin A1C test to tell the average level of blood sugar, and the distribution of dental health kits. Those found to be hypertensive and diabetic are also given lifetime prescribed medicines.

City Mayor Majul Gandamra stressed this undertaking is significant on the part of the local government as they intend to successfully carry out their mission of taking care of the overall health of their people.

He conveyed that while they combat against the COVID-19, it is still likewise critical to give attention to other health conditions.

“It is important to note that more than this is we have other serious health issues… We are here to promote good health for all of our constituents. This is to strengthen our basic health services through the City Health Office,” said Gandamra.

The mayor emphasized that the celebration is designed to raise awareness about various heart and dental conditions which can be avoided through proper exercise, a healthy diet, and proper check-ups.

He then assured that they are doing their best to render quality health service for the public.

“We strive hard to juggle the COVID-19 interventions and the other health problems so that we can collectively achieve a more developed and healthier Marawi for everyone… Ang LGU-Marawi ay sinusuportahan ang mga programa para sa kalusugan [The LGU-Marawi supports the programs for health],” said Gandamra.
